I find sociology fascinating because it focuses on the human race and why we act like we do. It's interesting to learn about human behavior and when you become more familiar with a certain group of people, it becomes easier to dissect their actions, thoughts and behavior. Sociology helps us accept others despite the differences we may share with someone of a different race, religion or ethnicity. It's essential to comprehend sociology in such a rapidly globalizing world and I know that further educating myself with it will lead to personal success as well.
This photograph describes sociology in so many different ways. The five people pictured have one thing in common, they are completely different from the person next to them in almost every aspect. I like it because it portrays the potential for unity, despite differences in race, gender, size and social class.
"You have to accept whatever comes and the only important thing is that you meet it with courage and with the best that you have to give."
- Eleanor Roosevelt
I like this quote because it depicts the mindset we need in this world. It's better to accept someone who you may initially despise because without taking the time to know them, you may never realize how great of a person and friend they may be.
